Earlier in 2020 our Andy Green and Russell Todd were thrilled and honoured to be published in Planet – The Welsh Internationalist as the inaugural article in its new series ‘Possibilities for a Post-Pandemic Society’

The article draws on the experience of Chicago in 1995 where a deadly heatwave caused a public health crisis, admittedly smaller in scale than Covid-19, but which nevertheless showed the critical role that social infrastructure played in keeping the excess death rate low in some communities, while in demographically and socio-economically similar neighbourhoods nearby fatalities were much greater in number.

Andy and Russell pose the question – can investments in Social Capital keep communities safe?

The article is available in edition 238 of Planet available to buy here.
