Billy Bragg chose Marmite as one of the objects that’s he choose while former Green Party leader and MP Caroline Lucas chose The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band LP.

Billy goes a little deeper on his Facebook page about what Englishness means to him.

What would you choose to express the concept of Englishness? It could be a cultural motif, a building, a famous person living or dead, an event, a landmark.
