On 20 May, our Andy Green and Russell Todd were guests at the More In Common In Action conference in Manchester hosted by the Jo Cox Foundation. We were thrilled, with the support of Cardiff Council’s community cohesion team, to be present to lead a workshop about our Pocket Museum concept and its power to build togetherness through sharing stories, memories and heritage in a slow, convivial, deliberative manner.

Our workshop drew on the Story of Splott in 50 Objects project that we collaborated on with Splott Community Volunteers (SCV) and which was launched earlier in May in partnership with SCV, Brains Brewery and The Maltings.
In addition to our workshop, Andy hosted a round table explaining how our Modern Cockney Festival is carving out emergent spaces for inclusive expressions of working class identity and diversity.

The other workshops were:
- Power of Listening and Community Organising with Nick Gardham
- a Building Connections taster: overview of loneliness and how to increase connection including 32 things everyone can do) with Civil Society Consulting
- Building community through cultural exchange/community conversations with the Roots Programme
Email us at [email protected] to discuss how we can help you curate your community’s pocket museum and build togetherness through storytelling and shared heritage.
